ANGEL FILM FESTIVAL ENTRY TERMS

This page sets out the entry terms for the Angel Film Festival 2007 (the "festival". The festival is a venture operated by a not-for-profit UK partnership - the AFF (referred to in these terms as "us", "our" or "we").

QUALIFICATION FOR ENTRY
Submissions are accepted from all non-professional film makers. You may contribute a film in any genre, however your film must not exceed 25 minutes in length.

Your film must not have been created before 1 May 2004. Any film previously submitted to us is not eligible for re-submission.

Submissions must be received by us on or before 1 July 2007 in order for them to be considered.

ENTRY AND DEADLINE
We will not charge you for entry of your film to the festival.

In order for your film to be considered, you must first register it on our website at www.angelfilmfestival.org. Each film submitted must be registered separately. Please fill out all sections of the entry form in as much detail as possible as -- if your film is selected -- the synopsis, credits and biographical information you have provided may be used in our promotional material.

All films submitted in a language other than English must be sub-titled in English, unless dialogue or commentary is unnecessary for overall appreciation of the film. Films submitted in any language other than English will only be considered by our English-speaking judging panel.

Your submission must be delivered to:

    Angel Film Festival
    138 Upper Street
    Islington
    London
    N1 1QP
    United Kingdom

If you have any further queries, please contact: chris@angelfilmfestival.org.

ENTRY MATERIALS
For our selection process we require only one copy of your film, in standard CD or DVD format (region 0 or 2 only). Each CD/DVD must be clearly marked with its entry number which is provided when you register at our website as above. The case of each CD/DVD should be labelled with the title, submission number, your name and email address. We regret that we are unable to accept submissions in VHS, on film, or any other format other than CD/DVD.

Please ensure that your entry is submitted in a format of the highest possible quality, as the version which you submit, if selected, will be exhibited during the festival.

Please ensure you use the correct postage and packing in sending your submission to us, as we will not pay or contribute towards the costs of postage or materials.

We do not accept responsibility for submissions lost or damaged in the post - you should consider insuring your submission if you are concerned about its loss. You agree that, whilst we will use reasonable endeavours to handle your submissions with care, we will not be held liable for any damage or loss caused to your submission during shipping, preview, screening or otherwise.

If your film is damaged after being selected for exhibition at the festival, or is later found to suffer from glitches, we will request a replacement from you. We will have no liability to you if you do not provide a replacement in time to be included in the festival.

Due to the volume of submissions which we receive, we regret that we are unable to return your submissions. All CDs/DVDs which have not been selected for exhibition will be recycled.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
A shortlist will be selected by our panel of judges from the films submitted. The judges' decisions will be final, and will be announced on our website in August 2007. We cannot guarantee to view all submissions to the festival which we receive, although we will use reasonable endeavours to do so.

We are open to all films submitted in accordance with these terms and we will not in general reject a film solely on the basis of its subject matter. However, we will not consider a film if we reasonably consider its content is obscene, defamatory, excessively violent or in breach of any applicable laws or if it is otherwise unlawful for us to view or exhibit such film at our chosen venues.

If you have submitted a film in accordance with these terms, you will be notified by email in August 2007 as to whether you are on our shortlist. The selection procedure is intended to be constructive and transparent. If you are not selected for the shortlist then we are happy for you to email us a request to explain our reasons for not selecting your film for our shortlist.

THE FESTIVAL - PUBLIC EXHIBITION
We will not pay you for any exhibition of your film at our festival or other use of your film in accordance with these terms.

All films selected for exhibition at the festival will be considered for a final awards screening on the last day of the festival (the "Festival Final"), from which an overall winner will be selected. Nominations for the final will be announced during the festival.

We may, in its discretion, produce a souvenir compilation DVD of those films that reach the Festival Final, which may be sold at the festival and on our website. We will not make this DVD available for general sale elsewhere, and will not distribute these films individually or other than in association with the festival, without your prior consent.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
(a) You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use the film and its content (including any intellectual property subsisting in or in relation to the same) (the "Film") for the purposes of the festival, and related purposes including publicity and promotion. For these purposes "use" includes viewing, copying, publishing, exhibiting to the public, converting to a different format or medium, and any other use specified in these terms.
(b) You warrant that all intellectual property subsisting in or in relation to your film and its content ("IPR") is either owned by you or your licensors and that you have permission from each owner of such IPR to grant us the licence at (a) above, and that there are no restrictions in you granting us the licence at (a) above.
(c) You agree that should any royalties or other fees become payable to any IPR owner, author or performer as a result of our use of the film in accordance with these terms, that you will be responsible for payment of any such sums.
(d) You hereby waive and agree to procure the waiver by any third party author of any moral rights subsisting in relation to the Film. However, we intend to identify you as the film maker in relation to the exhibition of the film at the festival.
(e) You agree to indemnify us against any loss, damage or other liability arising as a result of a breach by you of the warranties and obligations at (b) to (d) above or otherwise as a result of our use of the Film in accordance with (a) above.

Without prejudice to the above terms, you understand that we may use your film in relation to publicity leading up to the festival, exhibition during the festival and promotion of our 2008 or future festivals. We may show your film more than once during the festival. We may use edited clips or stills from your film in promotional materials.

You agree that we may use third party suppliers and websites for promoting the festival and its films, and you agree to allow us to provide your film to third parties for these purposes. We accept no liability for the actions of such third parties in relation to your film.

We will not be liable to you for any action taken by any third party during the public exhibition of your film which infringes any IPR.
