We are delighted to announce our finalists for the 2007 Angel Film Festival.

A Bout de Truffe14"50'
After years of searching, a struggling truffle hunter makes the discovery of a lifetime Ð with devastating results on his relationship with his partner, lover and pig, Carinne.

A Bout de Truffe is writer/director Tom Tagholm's first fiction short, following his 2005 documentary Tarzan of Bounds Green.

Ahaarrr!14"37'
An actor engaged to voice a radio commercial as a pirate faces the horror of a director whose concept of 'pirate' is very peculiar to him.

Writer/producer and actor Jonathan Kydd also did some of the voices in Flushed Away, and sings with the Singing Dentists. Steve Skinner directs.

And the Sea Came By6"40'
The sea came by one morning in March, when all hope was lost.

Film-maker Filippo Fraternali studied astrophysics at the University of Bologna and started film-making in 2001, subsequently winning numerous awards for his films.
Black or White?3"36'
A cross section of society is asked a series of either/or questions, revealing as much about the audience as it does about the people on screen.

Black or White was written, produced and directed by Debbie Howard, for Big Buddha Films.
Coucou Clock3"00'
Everyday kitchen objects take on a life of their own, their principal entertainment a game of darts between the vase and the corkscrew. One day, a new participant arrives.

Based on an idea by 3D animator Fobis Audrey, the story took a year of collaboration with Cailleau Francois to complete and then a second year to animate.

Fish Eye4"30'
A humorous semi-documentary about the loss of cultural heritage in contemporary Czechia, from the perspective of a character with everything to lose.

Film-maker Margot Buff is a journalist based in the Czech Republic.

Moth12"00'
An unhappy boy becomes obsessed with moths and their magic, seeing them as the only means to escape the homespun conflict which engulfs him.

Director Simon Curris and producer Alison Reddihough together founded Amulet Films, which most recently produced 'Moth'. Writer Clifton Stewart is a successful television screenwriter.

My Mum the Wrestler2"10'
Comedy about an eight-year-old girl's mother, who pursues her dream of becoming a wrestler.

Written, produced, directed and edited by Mark Withers, this film was produced on a £40 budget for costumes and ice-cream.

One Step at a Time6"33'
A small town mayor sets out to reduce traffic by introducing an anything-but pedestrian crossing.

Director Scott Gairdner is a senior film production major at Loyola Marymount University, and has been producing short comic films since 2001, primarily distributed via online video websites such as iFilm and Youtube.
Surprise1"30'
A man lies lifeless over a bath, a woman looms above him, a knife lies at their feet. As the scene unfolds backwards in time, we discover the surprise behind this scene.

Film-maker Benjamin Dodd is an in-house director at a successful commercial production house, and has been making shorts since 1998, ranging from comedy to horror, and drama to scifi.

The Queue9"20'
A rational man is driven to extremes by the frustrations of modern life and an automated telephone system, and we witness his transformation from passive customer to radicalised sociopath and violent criminal.

Writer/Director Jonathan Miles studied film at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design. Producer Bruce Webb has several feature projects in development.

The Trainee8"15'
The Trainee has finished the late shift at a 24-hour convenience store on the Keong Saik Road. She broke a freshly painted nail while closing up the register, and is in no mood for the next man to enter her inconvenience store.

The Trainee is writer/director Craig Rosenthal's first short film, although he has considerable experience of writing 30-second adverts, including the ÒFat people are harder to kidnapÓ slogan for Marriott Hotels' all-you-can-eat buffet. He has lived in Singapore for over seven years.

The Watchman6"40'
Every year, around thirty-eight people throw themselves to their deaths at Beachy Head. Keith, an Eastbourne window cleaner, now devotes his life to guarding this eight mile stretch of coastline. What drives a man to such dedication?

Filmed and edited by Edward Brooke-Hitching, a talented documentary maker who works for a larger post-production facility in London.
